Sony should stop trying to 'help' me

well..now i apparently have to homogenize a Station account with my Eq account...so i create an account
and then it asks for the CD key....well...im at college and dont have access to that obscure little box with the little number that i installed this game....
but SOE sensed that in time i actualy might be able to get around this road block
thus...
whenever i try and subccribe to EQ..or anything else for that matter...
i apparently do not have the right internet path and nothing will load.....
why are they trying to 'fix' something that already worked fine?
