A Humble Request

(Hey all! I'm feeling in the rp mood, so join up on this if you will! It's open for anyone, but particularly I'd like Gilliadson and Sine in on this ^^)

There were few things that the denizens of Norrath could agree on. The one thing that almost all agreed with, was that the lizard-people of Cabilis were abominations and needed to die if seen. Savage, strong, and practicing magics that many considered evil, many Iksar understood why the other races thought that way. One such Iksar was the monk-turned-Necromancer Rakana Shadowscale. As she traveled towards the estate of her Paladin friend, and his Summoner wife, she reflected on that, as well as her good fortune in the last few months.

Rakana's fortune had increased dramatically once she had changed professions. Only a few months along, she was already adept at her new calling and rapidly rising in the ranks. She had earned the trust of her fickle guildmasters, already appointed to watch over the great Library in the Tower of Terror, as well as acquire more texts between working on her own projects. Her position was one that was said to be the fast-track to becoming a guild-master or mistress. With all of that suddenly tossed into her lap, she had almost no reason to despite the dark-elf priestess that had nearly tortured her to death, and led to her eventually switching to her new profession. Except for one small, almost insignificant consequence...

A flick of the lizard lady's clawed hand dismissed her skeletal servant. After all, Gilliadson was a Paladin. Considering the rain that was pouring down, the Paladin or the human's guards might not recognize her, and attack her with an undead abomination by her side. She smirked to herself, tail giving a swipe against the wet ground. It had been months since she had last seen the Paladin, the human that had opened her eyes to the tolerance and kindness that his race, and others, could show even to abominations such as she. She only hoped that the Paladin would be home...as much as she hated to admit it, even to herself, she truly was out of options. She, a Necromancer, would have to ask for the assistance of a Paladin. Hopefully, her dark God wouldn't smite her for such an act.

The Guards at the gate remember the Iksar Necromancer and send for an escort to take her to the Manor. Shortly afterward a young Half-Elf lady comes to the gate.

"Greetings Rakana!" The young lady speaks in perfect Lizard. "I am Pnala and I will be your escort. Please follow me." Pnala turns and walks toward the house.

Rakana raises a scaled brow, somewhat surprised to be greeted in such a welcoming manner. Apparently, the guards of the Manor have a long memory. If only some of her students were the same!

A bow is given to the Half-Elf that greets her. "Thank you...Lady Pnala. Please, I have need to speak to Sir Gilliadson. Should he be available, of course..." she says rather formally; an oddity for her. The iksaress follows along, once more admiring the large house that the Paladin owned. To think, that her race had once owned abodes that rivaled this one!

Pnala stops for a moment to reply...

"I am afraid that Lord Gilliadson is away in the Northlands north of Halas performing the duties of a Father. We are unsure of his return as yet. Lady Shadowbane will come to meet with you in the Fireplace Room directly. She is aware of your arrival."

As the young Half Elf turns to resume the walk toward the house, her image shimmers a little.

An irritated hiss exits the Iksar's mouth as she's informed of the Paladin's absence. She quickly calms herself, inwardly chastising herself. She shouldn't be so emotional. After all, the Paladin has his own affairs.

"...How unfortunate. I do hope he staysss warm" she states, shivering. Being cold-blooded, she hated the cold.

"She will do...perhapsss it isss best, in fact."

The shimmering of the half-elf isn't lost on the Iksar, her curiosity causing her to peer at Pnala. An illusion of some sort?

The young Half-Elf leads the Iksar to the Fireplace Room.

The warm glow of the magical fire that forever burns in the fireplace provides warmth when needed or is just pretty to look at when the weather is warm enough. Several plush sofas and two armchairs are set up in the room an arch facing the fireplace. Beautiful tapestries are haning on either side of the fireplace. One holding images of Lady Sineliniel's family History and the other images of Lor Gilliadson's family History. Over the fireplace is a painting of a Knight and a lady Minstrel. The Knight somewhat resembles Lord Gilliadson. On the Rosewood table in the middle of the room is a platter full of fresh cookies and a pitcher of cold milk.

"Please have a seat and make yourself at home. I will let Lady Shadowbane know that you are here." Pnala smiles warmly and exits the room.

(Ugh, softskin food.... :)

A better choice for an Iksar might be Beetle Bake and a bladder of lizard milk. Both sold on such fine merchants such as Klok Naman. Yum!)

Another Half-Elf walks into the fireplace room dressed in a crimson gown with silver trim.

"Lady Rakana! It is so good to see you again!" The young lady smiles brightly. A feeling of warmth and compassion emanates from this young lady. "Mother will be here soon. Father is away visiting my little sister's suitor in the Northlands."

((Ha! Someone with sense! Silly softskins and your strange food! Oh, and the half-elf is myrikel yes?))

Rakana turns around from studying the tapestries of the Shadowbanes' family. Such a history! She can hardly say the same for herself, she hardly knew her parents.

The lizardess smiles to the half-elf warmly. "Lady Myrikel, it hasss been some time! You look wonderful, how are you?" she greets.

"I wasss unaware you had a sister. To be married, hmm? I cannot say I understand softskin customsss well. That isss a mating ritual, yesss?"

*Myrikel giggles a little*

"Yes it is a custom of ours to be Life-bound before mating." Myrikel smiles warmly. "Yes I have a younger sister and a brother now. They are twins. Darthan and Lillyth are their names. Lillyth is an elementalist like Mother and Darthan is a Knight Like Father and myself. It has been a long time indeed and I am quite well. So how have you been and what brings you to see us again after such a long time?

Rakana gives a little sigh.

"I have been given the honor of looking after Cabilis' library, and all the dutiesss that comesss with that. Namely, acquiring more textsss and teaching othersss of my profession. Apprenticesss...." she states, shaking her head. They have certainly been a headache.

"Asss for why I am here...I wish it were just a social call. Myself and othersss have noticed a disturbing trend. More and more of our femalesss are becoming infertile. Our Shamansss have tried their best...but, they proclaim it asss a test by our Father. I do not have to tell you how much of a problem thisss all isss...which, leadsss me to why I am here."

The Iksar frowns, worry showing on her scaly features.

"I spoke with a few contactsss I have made over the yearsss. There, if the rumorsss are to be believed, isss a very potent spellbook being kept safe by the followersss of Mithaniel Marr in Freeport. The good Paladin's patron, yesss? Normally, I would not ask such a thing of him...but, security around where it isss supposedly held isss rather tight. It would take bloodshed for me to retrieve that book. I have no desire to spark a war."

*Myrikel contemplates for a moment.* "If it is in the temple, then I would have access to it as well... You know that before either I or my father can retrieve such a book for you we must be sure that it holds no power that less honorable members of your people would use it against us. If nothing else, we may be able to extract what information you need from the book. Though I am rather surprised that a book about fertility would be in our temple. I would think such a thing would be in Tunare's Realm or among the Clerics of Felwithe."

The Iksaress nods to Myrikel. "Of course, of course. Perhapsss it isss best if you simply scribe the spell for me. I should, along with some of my more talented apprenticesss, be able to turn it into something useful for our little predicament."

She shrugs, smirking. "It's not just that, of course. Provided I wasn't lied to, it holdsss a myriad of very powerful healing spellsss, and other thingsss. Your Temple isss very secure, and if it went to the wrong clawsss...well, Innoruk or my patron would no doubt chortle with glee at their followersss obtaining such a book. Asss much respect asss I have for you, and your father...I doubt even I could resist such a think. Professional interest, you know? But...worry not, I only require the one spell. I would allow you to cast it yourself...but...well, I'm sure you know how many of my kind dislike strangersss."

"Very well, Lady Rakana, tell me what spell you are seeking and I shall endeavor to locate it within the tome. Allowing a race to go into extinction is not the ways of Erollisi Marr nor her Brother. I will ask for my Matron's Avatar to accompany me to ensure that I am not going astray from the Her teachings in this. If She allows me to bring you the spell then I shall. For now, P`Nala shall show you to your room and provide for whatever needs you may have, within reason of course." *Myrikel smiles brightly*

You will find P`Nala to be a most singular individual.

*Myrikel exits the room and a short time later a young Tier`Dal lady dressed in a shimmering purple gown enters the room.*

"Greetings Lady Rakana," the young lady intones in perfect Iksar. "We have already met, though I was wearing an illusion at the time. I am P`Nala and I have been assigned to you. Shall I show you to your room?"
