Autumn Festival

A bard sprints towards you on a wispy stream of blue notes. Her words become more defined and her pace quickens as she notices your curiosity. She ends the Accelerando so abruptly that the final note reverberates throughout the surrounding area, accentuated by the last staccato drum beat.

The crinkle of a scrawled list unfolding assaults the breathless silence following the song as each of her footsteps continue to slow to a more visible speed. Bowing slightly, she strikes through something on the list and replaces it in a belt pouch. Next, the bard disregards her main bag and opens a smaller, more intricately designed satchel full of identical parcels. The messenger delivers one of these packages and salutes you before resuming the song once more, leaving little save for a trickle of abandoned notes and a trail of resettling earth.

Unfolding the parchment, you remove a trio of handpainted invitations, each of them folded horizontally. The front depicts a show of exotic fireworks lighting up the night sky over the Commonlands. Inside, the card reads:

Greetings, my friends.

I have been planning a grand celebration now for some time, and as it is approaching Autumn, I thought it the perfect time of year to host such a party. You are invited, as are your friends, so long as they eat heartily and toast to cheers. This includes members of all races, factions, and practices; it will be a neutral ground.

We will start off the evening with a fair. Food will be passed 'round, drinks twice so, and we shall seek to break the language barrier between many of the races by having experienced linguists on hand to teach in small groups languages common, exotic, and ancient. Among the events for the evening will be activities such as a scavenger hunt, a shouded brawl, a marksman's challenge, an efficiency test in questing, and much more.

Winners' purses, a smattering of items, knowledge, and entertainment may be found - for all - at this massive celebration... none shall leave hungry, and few shall walk home without a stagger or two (levitation will be provided for those who seem likely to fall on the return trek)!

Included are extra invitations, should you see fit to invite a few of your own. I hope to see you in the Commonlands for the opening festival at the turn of the day... for we shall branch out from there!

Your future host,
Nasorin Avaerst

((For clarification purposes, the party will "start" at 12pm CST on Saturday the 15th of November, officially starting at the "turn of the day," or midnight in EQ time. It will last hours upon hours upon hours, so don't worry if you're going to be late; you'll just miss a few events! This is a roleplayed party, and as such, any others invited should at least attempt to roleplay.

I have had many questions as to how people can help; I have already pledged 100k in cash and about that much again in items. Among the prizes are experience potions, some clickies, a large chunk of platinum, and a smattering of smaller things (gems, magical food, etc).

Others have donated platinum as well, and due to their generosity we've exceeded the cost of the party by 50,000 platinum by this point! As such, I have increased the prizes accordingly, and plan to add in more 2nd and 3rd-place slots as we can afford them. I still need a handful of volunteers... namely hiders in Hide and Seek, people to run the groups and booths at the Language Fair, still more to help me drop items in the Thousand Keys event, a referee in the Arena, and "Checkpoints" in the Cross-Country Race. If you volunteer in an event, the rest are still open to you, to either volunteer for again or to participate in as you see fit!

Tradeskillers are encouraged to show off! I can't bake everything myself - though I now have hundreds of exotic pies... nor can I brew as well as some, though I have been practicing some recently (I have had absolutely no alcohol donated yet!). Feel free to contact me in-game or via an EQ-mail if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions!))
