Licinia's eyes narrowed as she read Qlari's letter. It was only a day old; it took little time to travel from Surefall Glade to Qeynos. Already the information could be old, and for all she knew Mendaani Velkyn'zress could have found his prey. She doubted it though. The Tier'dal were not gifted wilderness trackers by any means, eschewing all that was natural unlike their distant Fier'dal cousins. That alone would be reason enough. However....
Perhaps I am getting too suspicious, Licinia thought. But that was her nature and she was very good at deception; good enough to see the possibilities that more altruistic people such as Qlari and Ariena might not. This Zinlexin had spent considerable time with Qu'Ellar Kultar herself, as Licinia had learned both from the drakkin herself and from her observations of Mendaani's house. Zinlexin described herself as a "rogue". Driven straight from Qu'Ellar Kultar by its most fearsome personage, straight into the arms of the Fabled Companions who would, idealistically, give her shelter. The Candlelight Alliance's raison d'etre was to help people such as Zinlexin. It was very appropriate. It was also very convenient.
It would be very ironic if this Zinlexin was an even better spy than she claimed to be.
To the Fabled Companions, greetings from your ally in the South. I hope that this Zinlexin is safe. I suggest you keep a watchful eye out for her, and that you also keep a watchful eye on her. Let us discuss at our next meeting at the arranged location in Faydwer. May Prexus carry you safely until we meet.
