There was a minor debate about horseriding while pregnant. I pestered my mum for more info (she's the qualified one, Im just her guinea pig), and there is no harm in horseriding while pregnant unless you fall off and land on your belly to quote her lol. If you can actually ride (as opposed to having just sat on a horse once) then you shouldn't bounce about and stuff and should be very little strain on the body at all. If you ride regularly it actually strengthens the pelvic muscles which in turn helps birth the baby easier.
I did not know if was a debate - even a minor one - but since it seems so...
The question is: would a six month pregnant woman *want* to ride a horse, considering a swollen belly right over the pommel of the saddle, the general uneasiness and feelings of altered balance that comes with an advanced pregnancy, and extra sensitive bodyparts in the details of which I will not go that will not appreciate a ride ?
Now, that it is technically possible I do not contradict. That it is for the *good* of the baby is something else. That riding would be the most favoured way of travelling of someone is another thing, as well. And that it is *advised* for the baby... and that goes without speaking of travelling accidents, horse bucking, falling and such - which in a world where monsters can be everywhere and frighten a horse may be quite common.
To a lesser extent, those points may apply to every stage of pregnancy... which, I admit, needs not be realistically roleplayed...
But it must also be pointed out that at this point neither of our pregnant ladies is 6+ months along... both are at the point now that under most circumstances a woman would just now be finding out that she is pregnant. Both are just a little over a month along... Perhaps they would be getting a little morning sickness in some cases perhaps not... Both would surely have missed their monthly visitors by this time and were it not for some spiritual magics involved would really not have known of their conditions till probably about now. Early stages of development are very important but mostly affected by what the mother takes into her body. Being of the world that they are in, I am sure our ladies there are quite capable horseback riders. (It really goes with the territory). The other topic is adventuring... While it is best that our ladies avoid injury as much as possible, keep in mind the world that they live in. Danger is not something that can be avoided for long. Maybe our ladies will tire out more easily... maybe not.. it could also be argued that the enchantments of these pregnant ones could also become stronger as an extra protective measure for the cargo that they are carrying. There are many physical changes going on with them now. Who is to say that these changes do not have an effect upon the arcane powers that these ladies posess. Not something to argue with you on but some things to consider. We each pretty much have our own ideas as to what can work and what cannot. Later stages, yes I would be more concerned of physical trauma to the mothers and their children in the form of bumps and jolts among other things but at the early stage that they are in now, the children do not have the enough mass for inertial damage to affect them.
Now this is an interesting discussion... Let us continue it and possibly define some guidelines to work with in the future... but remember.. We are all friends here...
well I thought she meant at the early stages lol. Didn't see mention of 6 months til now.
But yeah, at 6 months + it would get rather uncomfortable, especially in a western saddle (english saddle has not so high pommel). Riding bareback sorts that problem but adds to the other, the behavior of the horse and the abilitry to stay on.
Monsters might scare them true, but in the world they live in being jumped by monsters is common place and they'd be kinda used to it.
At the end of the day, woman have been having babies since the dawn of time and have lived in far more dangerous times. In Britain they even still worked in the coal mines until they went into labour then quite often right back in again the same day or day after its born Crazy people.
Well the Physiology of Dal's is also different from Humans Are they hardier or are they more delicate? Dal's do have a tendency to outstrip the Humans in the Arcane, and Spiritual arts... most of which require more mental or spiritual ability. However in the Physical area Humans are not that much ahead of the Dal's... How about the effect of Enchanted clothing such as our ladies wear all the time... We have a lot of variables to play with. Fluffy would definitely be more protective during this time and would be increasingly so as the delivery date drew nearer...
Yeah I know I'm throwing a lot out here... but hey... just a few things for us to think about and have some fun with...

Humans are hardier. All things being equal, humans have +20 STR and +10 STA over High Elves. They also have +15 STR and +10 STA over Dark Elves, which is why I was able to justify Licinia physically thrashing a "sanguine-enhanced" Tier'dal (especially given she's got AAs in STR... and unbuffed STR of 345 these days).
Humans trail sadly in mental stats, and are rarely the best race for any class, but for roleplaying purposes.
