Revelations

Post by Jetamio »

Hidden in her corner on the floor, the Tier'Dal watched the goings on around her. She had barely slept last night in this place, surrounded by people who would likely kill her for her crime. Why did she stay, even hidden? She still did not know, just as she did not know what brought her here in the first place. She just felt compelled to stay, as she was drawn to this place.
Her fingers fiddled with the purplely-black pendant as she looked it over. She was not sure what was so significant about it. She knew it was made from a scale of some dead dragon, Vishimtar, and that Jetamio had once given it to her son, and it had in turn gone to Tajer upon getting her inheritance. But when Tajer had died, Jetamio had taken it back as Tajer's only known living relative. When she had then later aquired the help of a necromancer to bring Tajer back from the dead, she had not given it back.
Kalsari moved the pendant slightly, allowing the light of the room to shimmer accross is in a flash of deep purple. She cared not who it truly belonged to, the line of succession was flawed in her eyes. But she knew she would not give it up, could not give it up, even to tajer should she have asked.
It called to her, whispered things to her in her mind. Ancient longings and emotions would flood through her sometimes, especially upon seeing something familiar.
Like the pass into Surefall last night. She had only assumed her illusion just in time as she found her feet following an unknown, but also very familiar path, instinctively knowing her kind would not be welcome.
Faces she had never set eyes on, yet knew their names. The Enchantress, Licinia. With her came visions of a castle home, a beautiful room in a tower, a strange vision of hanging from great heights in a grand, but empty hall, hanging colourful banners. A trip to the Stonebrunt Mountains in the snow, the tiny shy feline race that lived there.
The Erudite, Kolemon. He brought back amusing memories, his sense of vanity a perplexing thing to whoever's visions these were. A House in the great planes, great joy, but also immense sorrow and a sense of finality, as though it was the last place seen.
The gold drakkin had been unfamiliar, but he had mentioned a name that sparked an image of a wild haired elf with emerald eyes. She had even recalled his true name, a name she sensed was known to few.
But she had not had much chance to explore these strange feelings much. The Drakkin had annulled her illusion and the others had quickly gone on alert. A charm spell from the enchantress had made her speak, which in turn had Kolemon about ready to kill her on the spot. Then for a breif moment something seemed to take her over, speaking through her and demanding that Kalsari not be allowed to escape, not even in death. But for that, the rogue was pretty sure she'd be dead now.
Licinia had left by this time, but a Paladin had come in, poking her in the ribs then demanding her respect. Again she recognised him, and felt a cold indifference from the whatever it was that was affecting her now. It had not particularly loved this Paladin, and Kalsari herself was no lover of his kind either. He had threatened her for her lack of respect, and she had offered to remove his tongue for him. He moved towards her, but wisdom finally overcame her youthful arrogance and she hid herself. Three against one were not good odds, and she was not a complete fool, only young.

And so she still sat where she had hidden herself, mostly compelled to do so by the 'spirit' as she had now come to think of it. It wanted to see someone mentioned by the magician, a boy by the name of Tortha. Kalsari did not know who this boy was, but whenever she though of his name, maternal instincts flooded through her and ignited more memories.
She clasped her hand tightly around the pendant. She both feared it, and treasured it. No, she thought, no one will take it from her while she still breathed.
