Myrikel

Post by Gilliadson »

Gilliadson jumped out of bed and quickly dressed.

"I will fetch Linella and our mothers and send Zeph to bring a priestess from the temple." Gilliadson left the room and shortly afterward the young Halfling Druidess entered.

The next contraction hit Sineliniel a bit harder than the last one but she endured it silently. Elanil and Marial arrived in the room shortly afterward and helped Sineliniel to the birthing rug. Linella started keeping time from that contraction to the next.

"You are doing well M'Lady you have some time still." Said the Halfling.

Gilliadson returned to the room and the women ushered him back out.

There was a seat outside the door to the room so the Knight sat on it until he heard his wife's first cry of pain. Gilliadson was on his feet pacing the hallway outside of the room. Gilliadson wanted to be in there with her but he knew that the ladies would send him right back out. Rolandel, Sineliniel's father came and joined Gilliadson outside the room.

"I know what you are going through." He the Koada`Dal Enchanter. "I felt the same way when Elanil gave birth to the twins."

The Priestess arrived and entered the room. Shortly afterward Sineliniel Screamed for the last time. The Human heard a slap and the cry of a baby immediately followed.

"They are cleaning up and will come for you when she is in the bed and ready." Said Rolandel.

It seemed like an eternity before Linella came to the door. The Halfling gave the knight a hug.

"Congratulations M'Lord. Mother and Baby are well."

"Thank you Linella." The knight bent down and kissed the Druidess on the cheek and Linella blushed.

It was the most painful and yet joyful experience Sineliniel had ever known. The final pain started...

"Her head is showing! Push M'Lady! Push!"

Sineliniel pushed with all she had and cried out loudly in pain as her daughter entered the world into Linella's waiting hands. Tears and sweat streamed down Sineliniel's face. When it was over, Marial and Elanil cleaned Sineliniel up while Linella cleaned up the baby. The Priestess examined Sineliniel and pronounced her well and healthy.

"You had an easy birth Lady Sineliniel. May Tunare grant you all the children that you wish to bear." Said the Priestess

"Thank you, Priestess Illiandil, I do not think I would like to have experienced a more difficult birth."

"Please hand me the child so I may bless her and allow the very anxious father into the room." Said Illiandil to Linella. The Halfling presented Myrikel to the Priestess and went to the door. "So I understand you already have a name for this one?"

"Yes Priestess. She will be called Myrikel Shadowbane."

Gilliadson entered the room and sat beside his wife on the bed. The Priestess brought the baby and laid her on her mother's breast.

"I present to you, Myrikel Shadowbane. May the blessings of our Blessed Mother keep her throughout her life and may she fulfill whatever her destiny may be."

"She has your face." Said Elanil. "She looks just like you did when you were born." Myrikel opened her eyes and smiled contentedly.

Sineliniel handed the baby to her husband. Gilliadson was quite nervous at first, having never held an infant before.

The knight looked into his daughter's sky blue eyes and smiled.

"It is time." Said Gilliadson to his child. "It is time to begin the task of restoring the Shadowbane land and to rebuild our home." Gilliadson knew that the path ahead was going to be difficult but he had no doubt that with the aid of his friends, he would succeed, Freeport and the Commonlands would be free of the iron boot of Lucan D`Lere at last. "Vi khess dos, Myrikel." Gilliadson handed Myrikel back to Sineliniel who then bared a breast for the child. Myrikel started feeding. Gilliadson kissed his wife and sat there for a while smiling at the two of them.

Sineliniel fed the baby and smiled warmly at her husband. She knew that his heart burned to complete the tasks laid before him with his father's dying wishes. For over three hundred circles, Shadowmanor had stood as a shining beacon upon the Commonlands outside of Freeport. The Shadowbane Knights kept the area safe for any who travelled through it and for those who resided there. Sineliniel had heard the stories from Sir Gilliad and Gilliadson. Gilliadson's mother had made a valliant stand along with Willanaome and the other house staff when the Teir`Dal stormed the estate while Sir Gilliad and his son away. The former Queen of Freeport stood with them. The only thing Gilliadson had left to remember Lady Alani by was the music box.

"Leofa, please play your box for our daughter." Sineliniel knew the magic of the box and wanted Myrikel to experience it on her first day in the world.

Gilliadson smiled as he fetched the small box from the nightstand next to the bed and traced the rune on top of it with his finger. The music put Myrikel to sleep very quickly followed shortly afterward by her mother.

"They've both apparently had an exhausting time." Gilliadson embraced Marial and Elanil as they each departed the room. Linella made herself comfortable in Sineliniel's chair and was fast asleep herself in no time.

"Mother, I wish you could have been here to see this." Gilliadson whipsered as the music continued.

The music seemed to him to form into his mother's voice as the words entered his mind.

"I am here, I see and I am happy for you."

The knight sat in the chair next to the bed and kept watch over his wife and child as they slept.

The new mother watched as the music of the box put her child to sleep. Sineliniel's eyelids were starting to get heavy also. The Elementalist looked up at her husband and smiled sleepily.

"Vi khess dos, Leofa." She softly sang before she fell asleep.
